Fair Trade Forum - Outline Document

By putting producers from the South and consumers from the North directly in contact with each other, and guaranteeing that distributors, will respect certain economic and social criteria, Fair Trade seeks to create a more equitable share of aggregate value between producer and importers and to assure a greater stability of prices and income for the producers, thus allowing them to obtain a better standard of living.

However, the development of Fair Trade raises certain questions : How can we assess the impact of Fair Trade Does Fair Trade contribute to strengthen local solidarity? Will the movement for Fair Trade be able to defend and spread the right to information, for both the producer and the consumer? What should the links be between this movement and the distribution network ? Is it able to influence public policies?
