Alternatives to the Global Financial and Economic Mechanisms of Debt and Impoverishment

Résumé :

Following the financial crises that have taken place in Mexico, Asia, Russia and Brazil, and regarding the increasing debt of countries of the South, 25 representatives of European church, religious and non-government organizations, as well as two South American participants, met in Copenhagen between 10th and 11th May 1999, to deal with the topic of debt in countries of the South, and to discuss alternatives to financial and economic globalization.

The workshop is organized by Kairos Europe, with the cooperation of Christian Aid, the Ecumenical Council of Denmark, Bread for All and the World Council of Churches.
